Malaysian Association of Scientific Research in Psychiatry
(MASRP)
The Malaysian
Association of Scientific Research in Psychiatry was founded in
2000. The main objective of this society is to bring together
researchers and experts in the field of mental health. The
purpose of the association is to strive to promote education and
the attainment of the highest level of knowledge and
understanding in the field of scientific research in psychiatry
in Malaysia.
The association intends
to:

foster and encourage scientific research, investigation
and demonstration in the field of scientific research in
psychiatry.

improve the quality of instruction in the profession
dealing with these sciences.

to establish and maintain an efficient collaboration with
international and national learned societies, governmental
organisations, professional associations and other groups,
societies, institutions and individuals who contribute to
progress in the field of scientific research in psychiatry.
The association is a
member of the reputed World Federation of Societies of
Biological Psychiatry (WFSBP) and is associated with the
International Federation of Psychiatric Epidemiology (IFPE). The
association has jointly organized international conferences with
these societies.
The association has
organised the following conferences:

7 – 8th October 2000, theme Culture, Family
and Mental Health at Intekma Resorts and Conventions, Shah Alam,
Selangor, Malaysia.

26 – 29 September 2001, jointly organised with IFPE,
theme Mental Health: Epidemiology and Service Needs at Grand
Blue Wave Hotel, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia.

28th – 30th June 2003, jointly
organised with WFSBP, theme Biological Psychiatry and Mental
Health at Sheraton Hotel, Subang, Selangor, Malaysia.
The next upcoming event
organised by the association will be the conference on
behavioural medicine on 25 – 27 January 2008 in Penang.
